The International Classification of Orofacial Pain (ICOP) was published in Cephalgia in early 2020 after a collaborative effort between several organizations with expertise in orofacial pain and headed by the IASP's Orofacial and Head Pain Special Interest Group. This interactive symposium provided: the overall background for and development of ICOP; a presentation of a novel diagnostic category into OFP classification; what's in it for clinicians; and a live Q+A with symposium speakers.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose of and background for the development of ICOP.
  • Recognize orofacial pain resembling primary headaches.
  • Discuss the implementation efforts of ICOP.
